Beluga whale from Vancouver Aquarium dies at SeaWorld Theme Park

A beluga whale owned by the Vancouver Aquarium died Thursday at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida.

White Beluga whale ‘Nanuq’ was moved to Orlando in 1997 for long-term breeding purposes.

he was the father of Quila, another Beluga whale currently living at the Vancouver Aquarium.

She was born in 1995.

The Aquarium says they are “very saddened” to hear of the incident.

The aquarium was not able to confirm what caused his death, but noted that a Beluga whale’s life expectancy averages fifteen years.

This particular breed of beluga whale is also considered endangered.
