Calgary family issues emotional plea for little boy’s return

Trembling hands gripping a paper butterfly and small T-shirt belonging to their missing son Nathan O’Brien, the five-year-old’s parents made a desperate appeal Wednesday.

Rod O’Brien, Nathan’s father wiped away tears as he spoke.

“Nathan, God is taking care of your soul, and mom and dad need you to be brave right now. To whoever has Nathan, please find it in your heart to drop off our little angel, Nathan, so that he can be rescued, and reunited with his brothers and his family.”

Jennifer O’Brien, Nathan’s mother was equally as distraught.

“Nathan I need you to hear my voice right now, and I need you to know that mommy and daddy love you more than anything in this world.”

The desperate search for little boy and his grandparents Alvin and Kathryn Liknes has been ongoing since Monday, leaving investigators baffled after finding evidence suggesting something sinister may have occurred.

They were reported missing at 10 a.m. Monday, after Nathan had been dropped off the night before for a sleepover with his grandparents, who were holding a weekend estate sale.

Days later, their fate remains unknown.
