Edmonton Couple kept $50 million lotto win a secret for 7 months

After making sure their affairs were in order, for seven months, an Edmonton couple has become the city’s newest multimillionaires after claiming their lottery jackpot that was drawn in December.

Andrea Groner says she and her husband Bill let some close family know the surprise, but everyone else learned the news today.

“We had things we had to deal with in our own personal lives first and once we got those settled and underway we were able to move forward with this,” says Andrea Groner.

Andrea was made aware of her win after checking her lottery ticket at a mall with a self-serve scanner on December 22nd.

“We’ve got our whole lives to think what we’re going to do with the win and stuff, so it’s not anything we’re going to rush into,” says Andrea.

The couple believes a honeymoon after 25 years of marriage may be an option.
