Police in Prince Albert, Sask., have made an arrest in connection with a savage attack on a Cree woman earlier this month.
Police issued a statement Sunday saying a 29 year-old man had been charged with attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault.
The arrest was made Saturday after officers executed a search warrant for evidence in relation to the offense at the residence of the accused, according to officials.
The suspect will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Wednesday July 2 at 9:30 a.m.
Last reports from her family said Bird was still undergoing skin grafting treatment for severe burns in an Edmonton Hospital.
