Maryland man Julian Jones is fatally beaten during visit to Toronto

Police say a U.S. man beaten to death outside of a Toronto bar after attending a bachelor party in the city has been identified as a 26-year-old resident of Maryland.

Toronto police were called to BLVD TGER, a bar on College Street at Manning Avenue in Toronto just before 2:30, Saturday morning.

When they arrived, they found a man with head trauma. He was pronounced dead in the ambulance while travelling to the hospital.

Police have identified the man as Julian Jones – a “hard working man” who was engaged to be married.

Police said Jones and his friends were leaving the restaurant when they were approached by about seven to nine men in a group.

At a press conference, police told the media Jones was punched, fell backward and then his head was stomped on. Police said Jones did not provoke the fight.

The suspects then took off south on Manning Avenue towards Dundas Street.

Police indicated they can clearly see the suspects in surveillance video and are urging them to come forward. They are also asking anyone who was in the area or inside the restaurant and who may have video to come forward.

Police have released descriptions of three suspects.

The first is a slim, white man, 26 to 28 years old, with short, black hair. He was wearing a black top and black pants.

The second man is black, 26 to 28 years old, with a large build, like a football player and a full beard. He was wearing a black fitted top and black skinny jeans.

Originally, police said a third man in a red baseball cap was a suspect, but they are now saying they just want to talk to him.

The homicide unit continues to investigate and will continue to release more details as they come in.
