Vancouver Man, 61, could be charged with attempted child abduction : Police

A 61-year-old Vancouver man has been arrested for displaying aggressive behaviour towards two different children on Commercial Drive Saturday.

Around 11:45, a man entered the grocery store near Grandview Highway and attempted to forcefully take an infant from a stroller.

The woman with the child struggled with the man to make him let go of the baby before a customer came to her aid and freed the child from the man’s grip.

Moments after fleeing the store, the same suspect approached the mother of a second infant in a stroller and allegedly threatened the nine-month old.

Upon arrival, police arrested the man without incident.

The 61-year-old is now facing chargers of attempted kidnapping, assault, and uttering threats.

Police are still investigating the incident and are hoping the woman from the first attempted abduction comes forward.
