Alanis Morissette wants her missing millions back

Alanis Morissette was robbed of at least $4.7 million by her former business manager, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The singer is suing Jonathan Schwartz and GSO Business Management for breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, fraud and negligence.

Jonathan’s alleged mishandling of funds was discovered after the Canadian singer cut ties from Jonathan and his parent company and hired a new business manager to review her accounts. It was then that the singer contacted GSO Business Management to inform them that millions of dollars were unaccounted for.

In regards to the lawsuit, a representative for GSO Business Management released the following statement to ET Canada: “We were shocked to discover that one of our members, Jonathan Schwartz, has been accused of misappropriating more than $4 million from one of our former clients. We will all feel a profound sense of betrayal if these allegations are true.

We have conducted a thorough analysis of these allegations and we have submitted a lawsuit against Mr. Schwartz in Los Angeles County Superior Court that, among other things, seeks to remove him as a member of our firm.

We have severed Mr. Schwartz’s business relationship with his clients and they will be serviced by the remaining members. If these allegations against Mr. Schwartz are true, we will not rest until he is held accountable.”

In his defence, Jonathan claims that Alanis asked him to withdraw the money and invest it in a marijuana company. The singer denies this accusation.
