Amy Robach: “GMA” anchor shares her breast cancer battle in new book ‘Better’

Amy Robach beat breast cancer, now she’s sharing her story with the world.

The weekly’s new issue has an exclusive story on Robach exclaiming, “Cancer Nearly Destroyed My Marriage.” But Robach appeared on “The View” on Thursday and said: “I just want to clarify something for anyone who might be picking up People magazine . . . there is a very hurtful headline. Cancer did not nearly destroy my marriage . . . it made it stronger and better . . . that’s not the message of my book.”

People had the same “Cancer Nearly Destroyed My Marriage” headline online, but then changed it Wednesday afternoon to “Cancer Made Our Marriage Stronger.”

Robach’s new book, “Better,” follows how her life changed after a breast cancer diagnosis and her brave triumph over the disease.

A friend of Amy’s told us, “People [magazine] has been very supportive of Amy’s story from the beginning, but she was disappointed to be misquoted on the cover.”

Robach told “The View,” “All marriages are tough . . . add cancer to that and it’s really, really, really difficult. I would say that cancer tested our marriage, it challenged our marriage, but it made it stronger.”

A People rep told us, “We’re sorry to hear that Amy is upset. People has been proud to share her story with our audience, and we admire her bravery and honesty.”
