Joshua Shintani: Shallow Hal Ukulele Player dies at the age of 32

Joshua Shintani, remembered by many for his ukulele-playing role in ‘Shallow Hal,’ died at the age of 32.

The young Hawaiian actor, who was best known for his role in the Jack Black comedy, passed away on Wednesday after contracting a severe case of pneumonia.

He was taken to the hospital by his mother early last week but sadly died days later.

Joshua Shintani starred in Shallow Hal alongside Jack and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, playing the catchy song Never Forget Where I’m From on the ukulele.

He was discovered by Peter Farrally while on holiday in Hawaii, when Joshua was still a high school student.

Joshua Shintani was playing his ukulele outside a public library at the time and Peter signed him for the film on the spot.

The film was Joshua’s only acting credit.
