Rosie Perez to Exit ‘The View’ After Four Months, reports say

Well that was fast. Variety is reporting that just four months on ABC’s The View, co-host and Broadway star Rosie Perez is departing the show’s panel.

Rosie Perez joined Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie O’Donnell as a host after Barbara Walters retired. The ratings for the 18-year-old show did not improve as a result of the new host panel.

“The choice of Perez was a surprise given the other contenders that were in the mix last year. But Perez never got a hang of the show’s mixture of hard and soft news, and she had trouble reading from a TelePrompTer, insiders say,” Variety reports. The actress has a one-year contract.

An ABC spokes-entity claims that Rosie Perez’s “status with the show has not changed.”

Deadline writes that, despite that claim, “at least one person with knowledge of the situation suggested we not bet the farm on Perez returning to when rehearsals are concluded for Larry David’s play Fish In The Dark.”
