Val Kilmer has dismissed reports suggesting he is at the centre of a frightening new health scare, assuring fans he was only admitted to hospital for a routine check-up.
Val Kilmer maintained he has a clean bill of health. “There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue,” he wrote. “I was in to verify I have no tumor or infection of any kind, which was verified by the very caring experts at UCLA.” He also gave a shout out to his fans for their encouragement: “Thank you all for your love and support.”
Radar Online fueled speculation Val Kilmer was suffering from a medical condition in a report from Friday. He was admitted to the hospital under the name “Oscar Davis” and could barely speak, the site wrote. Kilmer was supposedly rushed to the Intensive Care United on a gurney, given a tracheotomy tube, IVs and hooked up to various machines, a source said. Additionally, medics discuss “comfort care” for the star, the insider reportedly heard.
It’s not the first time rumors about Kilmer’s health circulated. The “Top Gun” actor was taken to UCLA Medical Center to undergo tests for a possible throat tumor in January.
“Film actor Val Kilmer is currently undergoing tests at a Los Angeles Hospital for a possible tumor. The 55-year-old Kilmer is being cared for by his two children, Mercedes, 23, and son Jack, who is 19, both [Los Angeles]. residents,” his rep, Liz Rosenberg, said at the time, via People magazine. “According to a family friend and spokesperson, the doctors are encouraged by his progress and are hopeful that Mr. Kilmer will make a full recovery.”
Val Kilmer updated his fans about his health Jan. 31. “Again, no tumor, no surgery … will stay close to my doctors advising, my family and Christian Science practitioner when all the facts are in,” he wrote at the time.
