A 2-year-old amputee from New Jersey received an outpouring of support after a video of him learning to walk was viewed by thousands of people.

Kayden Elijah Kinckle could be heard saying “I got it” as he held a walker and took several steps in a video posted by his mother on July 4, YouTube user Nikki Sessoms.

Along with the YouTube video, his mother posted the story of Kayden’s spirited triumph over a series of health problems. While in utero, Kayden developed a condition called omphalocele, a kind of abdominal wall defect that causes the intestines, liver, bladder and sometimes other organs to develop outside the body.

Doctors told Kayden’s mother, Nikki, that he wouldn’t survive and recommended she terminate the pregnancy. She also learned that the umbilical cord was wrapped around his feet and pinned under her pelvic bone. But Mom wouldn’t give up and the little boy has certainly defied the odds.

The family has created a Facebook page to honor their son, and they’re also raising money on GoFundMe to pay for extra physical therapy visits, braces, prosthetics and to settle existing medical bills.
