Women in Ontario will be able to get government-funded fertility treatments in 50 clinics across the province, starting today.
The government previously announced it would cover the cost of one in-vitro fertilization cycle per eligible patient per lifetime.
Kitchener Centre MPP, Daiene Vernile says, “At our constituency office, we’ve heard from parents coping with infertility. Funding for IVF treatment will grant access to reproductive therapy, allowing those dealing with reproductive challenges the chance to grow their families.”
MPP for Cambridge, Kathryn McGarry adds, “Few things are closer to the heart than having a child, and for some people, this will make that a possibility. I applaud the forward thinking and compassionate reasons for this program, and
the passion of members of our community who have advocated for this procedure.”
They say this will help more than 5-thousand in the province.
The government says it is working with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Ontario on the project.
