Get well soon’ website launched for former Toronto mayor Rob Ford

The Ford family has launched a “get well soon” website where people can write messages of support to Rob Ford as the Toronto city councillor and former mayor undergoes more cancer treatment in hospital.

There are more than 1000 messages have been posted at getwellrobford.com.

“Please accept my prayers for your health, your family’s strength and your medical team.”
—Brian Burch

“Hi Rob, just wishing you all the best in your fight against this dreadful disease. Your are in my prayers and I ask the good Lord to lead the doctors to your cure. Fight the good fight my brother and stand firm on your faith. Let the Almighty God lead and direct, and all will be fine in the end. All the best to you and your family. Wishing you all God’s richest blessings.”
—Arthur

Brother Doug Ford says the website was set up Sunday evening to enable Toronto residents to reach out to Rob. The chief of staff for Rob says his boss has missed three council meetings since this latest round of treatment but everyone including brother Doug is helping out in the ward.

“Get well soon Mr. Ford. You were a good mayor and a good human being. God bless.”
—Richard

“Get well soon Rob Ford. My thoughts are with you. Hope you are in positive spirits. You will beat this. Keep your head up.”
—Sarah

A lot of people are rallying to help, and they are so encouraged by it, says Dan Jacobs. Rob desperately wants to return to work as soon as he can and City Hall will be his first stop when he gets out of hospital.

“Mr. Ford, thank you for all the wonderful years. The people of Toronto love you and hope for a speedy recovery. We miss you as our great mayor and hope another successful run is in your future. Bless you Mr. Ford. Bless you. I love you.”
—Pete R

Ford was forced to drop out of the mayoral election campaign in September 2014 after a large tumour was discovered in his abdomen. Surgeons removed the rare liposarcoma last year after Ford underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments to shrink it.

But the former mayor announced last October he had another tumour, and in November, Doug Ford said his brother actually had two tumours on his bladder.
