Jenny McCarthy slammed for anti-vaccination talk

Apparently a lot of people want their mate to be vaccinated. Actress Jenny McCarthy tweeted a question Thursday evening:

“What is the most important personality trait you look for in a mate? Reply using #JennyAsks,” McCarthy, 41, asked. Some of the responses weren’t that friendly — but admittedly funny, too.
“Somebody who gets that refusing vaccines because of ‘toxins’ and then shilling for e-cigs makes you a pathetic hypocrite #JennyAsks,” one person wrote back. “Someone who think vaccines are safe,” another added.

“#JennyAsks Someone who doesn’t spread false info causing disease,” another chimed in. “Someone who believes in data & science, not discredited, fake medical ‘experts’ or anecdotal evidence,” a fourth said. Some even acknowledged and joked about the “hijacking” of McCarthy’s #JennyAsks hashtag. (The TV personality has yet to reply to the backlash.)

A report released last year by the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that measles cases were recorded at a 20-year high, with 80 percent of the victims being people who did not get receive the MMR (Measles-Mumps-Rubella) vaccine. Many of those who fell ill said they did not get the vaccine because of “philosophical differences.”

WABC-TV reported earlier this week that at least five people have been hospitalized due to measles New York City. In two of the cases, the disease was reportedly transmitted inside a doctor’s office. Officials in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Texas have also reported measles cases.
