Woman glues eye shut after Visine, super glue mixup “Video”

A Florida woman’s eye was glued shut after someone accidentally poured glue into her eye instead of eye drops, instantly gluing her eye shut.

Katherine Gaydos, of Lantana, told WPBF that a piece of debris landed in her eye while a friend was blowing leaves with a leaf blower. The friend grabbed what they thought was Visine and handed it to Gaydos, but it was fingernail glue.

Gaydos called 911 after realizing what happened. A doctor treated the eye with antibiotic salve and ointment, but told Gaydos that surgery might be needed to save the eye.

But Gaydos, a single mom with no job and no insurance, didn’t know how she would pay for the surgery.

After the story aired, the doctor’s office told her to come back in, according to ABC News. Her doctor was able to pry the eye open and Gaydos is expected to get her full eyesight back.
