More than 40 Winnipeggers are facing a court date in the New Year after earning impaired driving charges during police’s Festive Season Checkstop Program.
For the month of December, police said 2,229 vehicles were stopped and 233 roadside breath tests administered. In addition to the 45 people charged, 33 received 24-hour licence suspensions.
Of the 45 charged, 39 were men. The average age of those charged was 38 years old, with the youngest being 20 and the oldest being 69. The average blood-alcohol concentration was .14, with the highest being an astounding .31.
Nine other arrests were made as part of the roadside program.
