South Korean carmaker Hyundai announced a recall of 470,000 Sonatas in the United States on Friday to replace engines that could have metal debris inside.

The recall affects 2011-2012 cars manufactured at a plant in Alabama between December 2009 and April 2012, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said. The cars involved have 2.0 or 2.4 liter direct injection gas engines.

Repair of the problem could require Hyundai to replace the cars’ engine assembly. However, only about 2% of 2011-2012 model year Sonatas are affected.

“The recall was prompted when it was discovered that metal debris that should have been removed may still be in the engine crankshaft — and that could cause the engine to stall,” CNN Money further reports.

According to the NHTSA, there haven’t been any reported injuries as a result of the defect.

Hyundai said it would notify owners to bring their cars in for inspection, while owners can also call customer service with the recall number 132 if they think they’re affected.
