James Bond’s Aston Martin DB10 from Spectre Goes for Auction

British automaker Aston Martin is giving consumers one last chance to feel like James Bond.

Christie’s will auction one of the specially-made Aston Martins in London on February 18 to promote the release of the latest Bond movie, Spectre, on Blu-Ray.

The DB10 was designed for the latest Bond film, utilising a 4.7-litre V8 engine and six-speed manual transmission from the Vantage wrapped up in the brand’s new design language.

Although several were built for the movie’s needs, as 007 is notoriously hard on his equipment, two DB10s were created as show cars and it is one of these that will be sold off.

Christie’s is estimating the DB10 could fetch up to $3 million with the proceeds going to Medecins Sans Frontieres.

However, there is a catch. The DB10 is sold as a “collector’s item” and not a car that can be driven on the road.

Because the DB10 was created just for the silver screen it has not be homologated, certified or approved for the public road. Aston Martin hasn’t carried out any of the normal testing it would for a production car including for safety and durability.

Still, it would make quite the centrepiece for a cashed-up Bond fanatic’s collection.
