7 Dwarfs Mine Train opening : Disney releases new photos

An illuminated sign hangs in front of the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction at Fantasyland inside Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

A board that is rope tied to the sign displays “Mine Opens Soon!”, with the other side displaying “We’re Dig, Dig, Digging For You!”.

The opening of the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction could be just days away as Disney has released new promotional photos of the family-friendly roller coaster.

“It was logistically pretty tough and our guys were pretty amazing. They found things as they went into it that weren’t on the plans, but they adapted and made it work,” said Tom Staggs, the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Staggs said the ride wasn’t originally part of the picture, and the idea came late in the progress.

“A number of us were sort of taking a look at it and were sort of talking, like, “Gee it would be great if we had a little more kinetics, a little more motion and sort of a center piece,” Staggs said.

After months of planning, a building constructed and the ride about to open, Staggs said they couldn’t have picked a better option.
“’Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ was really such a perfect story to celebrate in a big way,” Staggs said.

The family-style coaster features first-of-its-kind ride vehicles that swing back and forth during the ride.

The journey will be accompanied by music and scenes from the film.
Hundreds of members of the media and guests from around the world were able to celebrate the new ride and go aboard before the roller coaster officially opens.

“Being one of the first people to ride it is pretty lucky because it’s fantastic,” said 8-year-old Jackson Settle. “I was amazed.”
With recent increases in ticket prices, Channel 9’s Renee Stoll asked Staggs if the cost was too much, even with new rides.

“We need to continue to watch that and always watch that because it’s part of the equation. Guests expect something from us, and one of the things they expect is a great experience. But they want it at the right value and we get that,” he said.

The ride will open to the public later this spring.
