Ann Coulter Bring Back Our Girls parody goes wrong, Gets BLASTED on Twitter

Twitter activism is a powerful strategy in many ways, namely the “Bring Back Our Girls” hashtag campaign that has reportedly seen some positive results. Some politicians, however, do not fully believe that Twitter can be used in such a way and have taken to mocking this campaign. The most recent addition to this came from conservative pundit Ann Coulter, who posted a photo of herself with the mock hashtag “Bring Back Our Country.” Needless to say, the masses have already turned it into a new meme.

Most people were disgusted that she used the campaign, which is being used to protest the kidnapping of 300 Nigerian by radical Islamist group Boko Haram, in an attempt to promote her political views. The girls were kidnapped last month, and the United States is considering sending drones into the country to track down the missing girls.

The #BringBackOurGirls campaign has been supported by First Lady Michelle Obama and Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, among many others. Photos show the First Lady and other prominent figures holding a sign that reads “#BringBackOurGirls.”

Coulter tweeted a photo of herself holding the altered sign Sunday, according to E! News.

“My hashtag contribution to world affairs…” Coulter tweeted along with the photo.

Almost immediately, Twitter users attacked the photo by altering the image. One user, @FullOfBalogna, altered the image so the sign reads: “I’m a miserable person who peddles hate to make money off dumb republicans.”
The photo has since been re-tweeted more than 2,000 times, with many of the photos altered by Photoshop to read messages poking fun at the controversial pundit.

One popular, altered re-tweet of the photo shows her holding a sign that reads: “#Bring Back My Soul.”

Others read: “Please Pay Attention to Me”, “Bring Back Traditional White America”, “I’m on Christian Mingle! User Name: RWNJ1958”, “Michael Sam and his boyfriend are so cute I can’t even,” and many more.

And here are some funny examples of how Coulter’s image had backfired into new memes:
