A man bulldozed home while wife ran errands, Police say the 48-year-old went to Diane Andryshak’s house at 11 Woodland Ave. Monday morning with a rented Komatsu…

The home, located about 75 miles (121 km) north west of New York City, is listed in Diane Andryshak’s name.

Asked why he did not inform his wife beforehand, Rhein told WNBC: “I tried calling her, she didn’t answer the phone.”

He said he razed the home because it was crumbling after years of disrepair.

Neighbours looked on in shock as Rhein levelled the property with his wife’s items still inside.

“He bulldozed all her clothes in there, the washer, dryer, furnace, hot water heater, all that,” Steve Belfiglio told WCBS.

“Everything was still in there. In fact, her medication was still in there.”

Neighbour Darryl Horn told WNBC Ms Andryshak screamed when she discovered her home had been reduced to rubble.

“She was very upset,” Ms Horn said. “She was in the middle of the road screaming.”

Rhein, who faces a felony charge of criminal mischief, later told the local station that his wife was “over it”.

“We’re good,” he said. “I’m a good husband, what can I tell you?”

    1. Insurance related, I guess it would be considered vandalism. If he is listed on the policy, this could be a problem because he intentionally caused the damage. That could be a reason for denying the claim.
