A man armed with a stick tried to steal a Jet in Texas this afternoon after careening through a security gate with a car, police said.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the man was captured by Texas Aero employees and a Waco officer, despite the fact that he reportedly refused to cooperate with the officer’s instructions.
He was shocked several times with a Taser and an officer eventually physically restrained him, Swanton said.
Officials believe the man has a history of mental issues and may have been under the influence of narcotics. After the incident, he was taken to Providence Health Center for an evaluation, Swanton said.
The man will reportedly face charges of criminal trespassing, attempted theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
His name will not be released until he has been booked into the McLennan County Jail after he is discharged from the hospital, Swanton said.
