Mary Nunes Found, Scott Kelley, fugitive featured on ‘The Hunt,’ arrested

After spending more than 10 years in hiding, Scott Kelley and Mary Nunes were ready to reveal their identities.

U.S. Marshals were waiting for Scott Kelley and Mary Nunes when they flew in from Costa Rica. Authorities had been tipped to their travel plans by the U.S. Consulate in Costa Rica where they had requested passports. Kelley, 50, faces non-custodial kidnapping charges and is being held in Clayton County jail pending extradition to New Hampshire.

Kelley, Nunes, and Nunes’ mother, Genevieve Kelley, had been on the run since 2004, when they fled New Hampshire following a custody battle with Nunes’ father, according to multiple media outlets.

Genevieve Kelley had accused Nunes’ father, Mark Nunes, of sexually abusing their daughter. But after police and courts looked into and rejected those charges, Genevieve Kelley, Scott Kelley and Mary Nunes disappeared, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.

Genevieve Kelley surrendered to authorities last November after returning to get medical care for her son with Scott Kelley, according to the Union Leader.

Jim Joyner, supervisor at the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Atlanta, said authorities spoke with Nunes at the airport and asked her if she felt she was in danger.

“She said she was OK,” Joyner said.

Nunes, who was accompanied by an attorney and another person, was allowed to leave, he said.

In a statement obtained by the Union Leader, Mark Nunes said: “We love Mary and are overjoyed that she is alive and back in the U.S. Our hearts and home are open to her, and we will do everything we can to insure she remains safe and healthy.”

    1. There are 2 sides to every story and a family doesn’t just up and change their whole existence without some form of justification. .. If there was the slightest hint that my child was being put in an abusive situation I would do the same ….
