Steven Velez Florida Band Director accused of inappropriate relationships with students, Steven Velez, 25, was booked into the Osceola County Jail on Tuesday afternoon.
Steven Velez Florida Band Director is now charged with two counts of unlawful sex with certain minors. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says he had sex with two of his female students.
The investigation began on Nov. 18 when deputies took a report from a 17-year old student at Poinciana High. The student said that last year, when she was 16 years old, she began receiving text messages from Steven Velez, who at the time was the band director at the school.
She began going to his house and eventually they began a sexual relationship, the sheriff’s office said. Recently, the student found out Velez also has a sexual relationship with another 17-year-old student at the school.
Detectives confirmed there was a second victim and Velez was brought in for questioning. He cooperated with the investigation, was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
Steven Velez Florida Band Director resigned his position with the school district last week.
