As many as 100 people showed up at a Katy area home for a religious gathering when their world came crashing down around them, literally.
West I-10 Fire Department spokesman Tim Thomas says one person was seriously injured when the floor collapsed Thursday during a gathering of about 100 people in a residential neighborhood in Katy, just west of Houston.
People were in a room above a detached garage when the floor gave way, though it’s unclear how many people were inside at the time, he said.
A makeshift triage area was established in the front yards of neighboring homes.
Most of those taken to hospitals had minor injuries, officials said, but three were more seriously hurt.
No further details were immediately available.
