An explosion on a tourist boat near the Indonesian island of Bali on Thursday has left two people dead and 13 other foreigners injured, according to police.
Bali police spokesman, Made Sudana, said the explosion happened off the coast of Lombok.
Several graphic images showed victims being carried onto shore with serious leg injuries. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the blast.
“It seems there was some sort of explosion on the boat, so there was an emergency with the engine,” Sudana told Reuters.
An Indonesian and a Dutch national were killed in the explosion. Other tourists who were on board included Australian, Korean, British, French, and German citizens.
Bali and neighbouring Lombok are the two most popular holiday destinations in Indonesia. Every year a large number of tourists visit these places.
