Police say the body found in the Otonabee River on Sunday is that of a man who had been visiting from Alberta and reported missing April 16.
Police cleared the scene at Water and Marina streets after removing a body of the 41-year-old man from the river. They had searched the area extensively, suspecting he had disappeared into the nearby waterway.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, police launched a boat from shore to retrieve a body from the water after a neighbour called to report seeing Mr. Petrunia.
The body was removed from the water and the coroner came to the scene. Body removal staff loaded the corpse into a van around 8:30 p.m.
No foul play is expected and police have contacted the family.
