Owen Sound : Man caught with alcohol in drive-thru

A drive-thru worker in an Owen Sound restaurant is being praised by police for stopping a drunk driver last night.

The employee was afraid the customer had been drinking and alerted his manager after noticing there was an open beer in his lap.

Police arrived on scene just as the driver was trying to get back on the road.

The 24-year-old man blew over twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol as well as other Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act offences.

His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

The man is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday.
