New Hampshire : Overdoses of synthetic product spur state action

The governor of New Hampshire has declared a state of emergency due to a popular synthetic drug.

Manchester Police and local health authorities said that at least 44 people in Manchester have experienced serious medical reactions to the drug “Smacked” and at least 20 have been transported to hospitals.

“The spice products can be treated with a variety of things. Some of them are showing up with controlled substances that make them illegal, but we don’t know that that’s true for all of them,” Hassan said.

The state of emergency triggers a public health response and targets the bubble gum flavor of one specific brand called Smacked!

It allows police and health officials to pull the product off store shelves, but it does not apply to other spice products.

Since Monday, Manchester police have responded to more than 40 overdoses connected to the bubble gum flavored spice, treated with a synthetic chemical similar to THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. It has a similar effects when smoked.

    1. Wow! I wonder how you can invent THC if all human beings produce it naturally. Many chemicals can get you high such as, sniffing glue. In my opinion, this is a biased article because kids are actually overdosing on synthetic chemicals made by Mankind.
