A man who entered Justin Trudeau’s Ottawa home earlier this month made a drunken mistake and won’t be charged, police said Tuesday.
According to police, the intoxicated 19-year-old wandered into Trudeau’s home believing it to be his friend’s house.
On Tuesday, police revealed that an individual came forward after video footage of a suspect was released. Police say the man has been cautioned and will not be charged.
Trudeau was out of town when the incident occurred but his wife and children were asleep in the home. Nothing was taken, but a note was left next to a collection of knives saying doors should be locked at night.
When asked about the fact that the man was not charged, a Trudeau spokesperson stated, “We fully respect the Ottawa Police Services’ responsibility to make this determination.”
