Dr. Rick Sacra, who entered The Nebraska Medical Center three weeks ago with Ebola, was released Thursday.
Sacra says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has declared him free of the virus. In a news conference, he credited his faith and the millions who prayed for him, saying, “ever since I’ve committed my life to Jesus as a young man, he has loved me, stood beside me his grace. But the outpouring of grace that I have experienced during my fight with Ebola has been especially generous.”
Sacra also thanked his friend, Dr. Kent Brantly, who also became infected. Brantly tested negative for Ebola after several weeks of treatment in Atlanta.
Doctors gave Sacra some of Brantly’s blood to help his immune system fight the virus.
