Police have released video stills taken from security camera footage in an appeal for help to identify six suspects in an attack that put a teenager in a coma.
Police say the teenager had got out of a cab on York St. at about 1:30 a.m. when a group of six men approached him. According to police, the men “punched, kicked, and stomped on the boy’s head” before fleeing westbound on Richmond and Queen Sts.
Three of the men are reported to have got into a northbound taxi on University Ave.
Det. Paul Rinkoff said the teenager had been in a coma for “about a month” and was transferred to a rehabilitation centre two weeks ago.
The suspects are described as five black men and one white man between the ages of 18 and 25.
It is not known what, if any, relationship the suspects had with the victim.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (416) 808-5200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (416) 222-TIPS (8477).
