There is finally light at the end of a long tunnel in an ongoing international adoption that’s reached four years.
A Saskatoon couple has been struggling to bring their adopted son over from Pakistan.
Waheeda (wah-HEE-dah) and Ashfaq (ASH’-fak) Afridi (ah-FREE’-dee) have been trying to get their little boy to Canada since he was born four years ago.
The family’s lawyer, Haidah (HYE’-dah) Amirzadeh (ah-MEER’-zah-deh), says the appeal division of the Immigration and Refugee Board ruled in thee couple’s favour earlier this week.
She says the board has granted the child a sponsorship visa and it should be processed within a few weeks.

She told her lawyer she is excited by the news, but won’t believe it’s real until she and her son arrive at the Saskatoon airport.
