Country star Taylor Swift has admitted she gave up on men because she wanted people to focus more on her music.
The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker said after her relationship with One Direction’s Harry Styles ended in early 2013, she made a conscious decision to ensure that the public would focus less of their attention on her love life and more on her musical talents.
The 24-year-old beauty – whose latest album ‘1989’ is out now – explained: “It broke my heart! I was selling out stadiums and it was all people talked about.”
Taylor’s new album sold more than one million copies in the first week, and she’s delighted the world is interested in her vocal talents, rather than her relationships.
The star – who’s dated the likes of Taylor Lautner and John Mayer – told Us Weekly: “Now people talk less about the things that don’t matter.”
Taylor also admitted that one of the songs on ‘1989’, ‘How You Get the Girl’, is written as an instruction manual for men everywhere.
She reflected: “It’s written for a guy who has broken up with his girlfriend, then wants her back after six months But it’s not going to be as simple as sending a text like, ‘Sup? Miss you.’
“That won’t work. You need to do all the things I say.”
