Winnipeg : Additional 30-km/h zones in store for city

Winnipeg’s city council will consider adding 120 new reduced-speed school zones on Wednesday.

Five thousand new signs are expected to be up by the end of February. The speed limit does not come into force until the signs are in place.
Drivers must slow down from 50km/h to 30 km/h around elementary schools between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Regional streets will not be impacted.

The additions come following a change to provincial regulations in August.
