The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has arrested the mother of a young child found dead inside a vehicle in Surrey Wednesday.
Mounties got a call around noon and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in shortly after.
Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound says a woman believed to be the child’s mother has been arrested. ”I can tell you that the [cause] of death is not known at this point and we’re going to be needing an autopsy to confirm.”
Pound says IHIT’s priority right now is to find the family of the child and woman. “We are concentrating our efforts on finding the family and delivering this tragic news, at this point.
She says investigators are looking into how long the body was there and where the car was coming from.
