Woodhouse brothers get surprise call from mom on C-SPAN, North Carolina natives and accomplished political operatives Brad and Dallas Woodhouse found out recently while on C-SPAN just what their mom wants for Christmas: a peaceful family gathering.
“Oh God, it’s mom,” said Dallas Woodhouse, president of conservative PAC Carolina Rising.
Brothers Brad and Dallas Woodhouse appeared on Washington Journal to promote their documentary, Woodhouse Divided. Brad Woodhouse is president of the liberal PAC Americans United for Change and a former communications directors for the Democratic National Committee.
Joy Woodhouse, identified as “Joy in Raleigh, NC,” confirmed she was their mother. She said she disagreed that most families were like theirs, calling them out for “fighting at Thanksgiving.”
“I was very glad that this Thanksgiving was the year you two were supposed to go to your in-laws,” she said. “And I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas, and I love you both.”
Journal host Steve Scully made clear this had not been planned, but he used the opportunity to ask the Woodhouse matriarch what it was like to raise the two boys. According to Joy Woodhouse, “It hadn’t been easy.”
She credited her sons for being passionate about their beliefs, which she loves about them, but reiterated she wanted it “out of their systems” before Christmas dinner.
The brothers agreed that was unlikely to happen.
“That’s wishful thinking,” Brad Woodhouse said.
