A case that has drawn out raw emotions across Canada will be coming to a conclusion on Thursday.
Superior Court Judge Elaine Perrault in Quebec is expected to announce the sentence for 26-year-old Emma Czornobaj.
In June 2010 she stopped her car on a highway to rescue ducklings on the side of the road when a motorcycle carrying the victims —Andre Roy and his teenager daughter Jessie — slammed into her car.
The prosecution is calling for nine months in jail and 240 hours of community service.
The defence says she should only have to do the community service.
Czornobaj is appealing her conviction.
