A senior member of a local crime board was stabbed to death in the street near her home as she walked to work yesterday morning.
Alison Morrison, 45, was attacked by a man wielding a large knife shortly after she left her house in Harrow, northwest London, just before 8am. Neighbours said that the woman named her killer as she lay dying.
She was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, west London but was pronounced dead two hours later.
A man in his 40s was arrested and was last night being quizzed by murder squad detectives.
Neighbours in Alexandra Avenue say they think the woman was on her way to work when she was attacked.
One said: “I was sitting in my room and heard some screaming I thought it was just people being silly but on the third scream I ran outside and I saw him on top of her.
“I went out, she was on the floor and he was on top of her attacking her.
“At first glance I thought they were just fighting, but then I realised she was on the floor and he was stabbing her.
“He had a big knife in his hands, I saw it flashing, it was something big and shiny. He definitely had a big knife.
“It went on for about a minute at least. “
