Firefighters remain on- scene in Yorkville after a four-alarm fire tore through a building housing two upscale restaurants Thursday night.
[fwdevp preset_id=”8″ video_path=”GJYcJ6y2Z7E”]Crews were called to 116 Avenue Road late Christmas night to find a closed down upscale restaurant Sotto Sotto on fire, which has hosted the likes of stars like Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The blaze broke through from the bottom floor to the apartment located above and it has also spread next door to 114 Avenue Road. Firefighters say the strong overnight wind made battling the blaze more difficult.
Officials with Toronto Fire confirm to AM640 that the tenant was found safe and sound at his parents place.
20 fire trucks were called in that brought 80 crew members to the blaze and officials now say they are rotating shifts.
One fire fighter suffered minor injuries at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The Fire Marshall has been notified of the blaze that is now estimated at more than $1 million in damage.
