A 16-day-old B.C. baby girl was hospitalized Sunday after being mauled by the family’s pet dog.
There aren’t many details known about the incident thus far, except that the dog was a 17-year-old Pitbull/Rottweiler cross.
The baby has fairly significant lacerations according to Saanich Police, but is in hospital and expected to make a full recovery.
Later today the family gave permission for the dog to be euthanized.
It’s unknown how the dog got so close to the baby in the middle of the night, and a criminal negligence investigation is underway.
