Police believe a fire that broke out in St-Laurent on Wednesday morning was criminally set.
Firefighters found suspicious elements on the scene.
“I’m not able to tell you the elements that we found, but it’s a suspicious fire,” fire chief Ian Ritchie said.
The fire caused over $400 000 worth of damage. The two story commercial building was an auto body shop and a used car dealership.
Over 50 police officers struggled for close to three hours to put out the blaze because of the cold.
“We have to keep the hoses running to make sure they don’t freeze, because of that the water runs around, it freezes becomes slippery. It’s a vicious circle,” Ritchie added.
There were no injuries or evacuations.
