A motorcyclist is in hot water after allegedly trying to do Mach 10 on Highway 1.
The Cochrane RCMP say radar caught the driver travelling 211 km/h near the turnoff to Kananaskis Country.
The posted speed is 110 kilometres an hour.
Cochrane RCMP Sgt. Dave Hardy said the nice weather is luring motorcyclists out for a ride, but gravel and sudden icy patches do pose dangers.
And this guy was a cause for concern.
“Crashing at that speed would have been catastrophic for this individual, not to mention the lives of others put at risk,” Hardy said.
Fortunately, the integrated traffic officer was in the right place at the right time to prevent a tragedy.”
The driver, 26, was arrested and released with charges of exceeding the posted limit and careless driving.
He will appear in court on May 8.
