“Mob Wives” star has cancer, “Big Ang” Raiola has confirmed that a lemon-sized growth in her throat is cancerous and that she will undergo surgery next week.
The 51-year-old was diagnosed by Staten Island doctors after she went to the hospital last week complaining of throat pain, sources told TMZ.
Tests have revealed that the lemon-size mass is cancerous, Dominick Detore, Big Ang’s brother-in-law, told the Advance, but it is not yet know if the cancer has spread to other parts of her body.
Detore says the doctors are optimistic that Big Ang will recover.
Big Ang is expected to undergo surgery next week to remove the tumor.
Big Ang posted an update to her Facebook page, thanking her fans for all the well wishes, prayers and support.
Ang also advised her fans to get tested regularly and stay healthy.
“Always look after yourselves and don’t neglect your health. I’m fortunate and blessed to have discovered something very early, and handle it in a positive manner.”
It’s not known if the apparent diagnosis is related to her smoking, which she said in a 2013 interview she has no plans to quit.
