Tara Hills : Mom changes her mind about vaccines after her 7 children get whooping cough

TARA Hills was against vaccinations — until her seven children caught whooping cough at once. It was the wake-up call she needed.

The Washington Post reports that Hills and her children were home-bound for a week in Ottawa and now regrets refusing to vaccinate them. Whooping cough causes violent, uncontrollable coughing and is named after the distinct sound sufferers make as they try to breathe.

Her children completed a course of antibiotics and were released from isolation yesterday, The WaPo reports.

“I set out to prove that we were right,” Hills said in an interview with The Washington Post, “and in the process found out how wrong we were.”

In an April 8 blog post Hills wrote she and her husband had partially immunised their first three children, but decided against any vaccines for the next four.

“We stopped because we were scared and didn’t know who to trust,” she wrote. “Was the medical community just paid off puppets of a Big Pharma-Government-Media conspiracy? Were these vaccines even necessary in this day and age? Were we unwittingly doing greater harm than help to our beloved children?

“We defaulted to the ‘do nothing and hope nothing bad happens’ position.”

The WaPo reports Hills later changed her mind and decided to catch up on her children’s immunisations, but it was too late to stop the whooping cough.

    1. Weird. It’s as if there is the regular universe out there, with predictable patterns, which we can observe, and knowledge of which gives us powers to change things!
