A woman who posted an image online of a senior Montreal police officer with a bullet in his head was convicted Thursday of criminal harassment.
Jennifer Pawluck, 20, snapped a picture of graffiti depicting Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere, the city police force’s director of communications, with a bullet in his head. She did not create the grafitti.
“Cmdr, Ian Lafreniere felt personally targeted seeing his face,” Judge Marie-Josee Di Lallo said, according to Le Journal de Montreal. “You cannot help but feel threatened, even if you’re a police officer.”
Pawluck hashtagged the picture with Lafreniere’s name and the slogan “ACAB” which means “All cops are bastards.”
“I posted the photo because it was a nice painting,” Pawluck told Le Journal last year.
She was active in anti-police-brutality demonstrations at the time.
Pawluck could face up to six months in jail or a $5,000 fine. She will be sentenced May 14.
