On Monday at around 8 p.m., the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department contacted the Sudbury Police Department about the double homicide. Young fled the islands and returned to Massachusetts.
Sudbury police officers arrested Young on a warrant for a probation violation.
The U.S. Virgin Islands issued a warrant for his arrest on Tuesday afternoon, which included charges of first degree murder. Young is being held in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice.
Young’s defense attorney said he is not a flight risk and has no recent history of violence. The judge voiced concerns about his criminal past.
“He does have a 3 or 4 page history of threats, assaulting behavior, violations of an abuse prevention order. He does have bit of a history with the court,” the judge said.
Court records show police arrested Young in 2010 for domestic assault and battery, and in 2011 he was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer.
Neighbors say Young was born in Russia, and that Jane and Kenneth adopted him when he was a young child.
A judge ordered that Young be held in jail and that he undergo a mental health evaluation.
