Eboniey Jeter : North Texas star forward from Heights found dead in dorm

Eboniey Jeter, a member of the North Texas women’s basketball team, and former Harker Heights star, was found dead in her dorm room on Tuesday morning on the UNT campus.

The cause of 21-year-old Eboniey Jeter’s death is under investigation, but foul play isn’t suspected.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the passing of Eboniey Jeter,” said Rick Villarreal, director of athletics at UNT. “She was a great young lady and a tremendous competitor, but most of all she was a trusted teammate on the women’s basketball team and a respected member of the Mean Green family. As we deal with this loss, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Eboniey’s family, relatives and friends. North Texas won’t be the same without her as we have lost a friend and loved one.”

In a tweet, the Talons of UNT said students and loved ones planned to gather to light the McConnell Tower in honor of Jeter at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
