Jimmy Gojdics, an outdoorsman and past competitor on National Geographic’s reality show Ultimate Survival Alaska has been found shot dead, and Alaska State Troopers were investigating the case as a homicide.
Alaska State Troopers were called to Jimmy’s home on Sunday at around 3pm.
When they arrived, they found him in grave condition and “suffering from apparent gunshot wounds”, according to Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.
Jimmy was rushed to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police are treating the death as a homicide but so far have no suspects and the body is now being transported to the State Medical Examiner for further tests.
The TV star was a retired ironworker and outdoorsman and competed on series two of the reality show, finishing fourth along with his team.
Close friend Janine Carlson said Jimmy loved to travel and meet people from other countries, spending winters in South America as much as he could.
She added: “Everyone was his friend and he met someone everywhere.”
A spokesman for Ultimate Survival Alaska wrote: “We were saddened to learn of Mr Gaydos’ [Gojdics’] passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time,” in an email to The Associated Press.
